John died on the 18 Nov 1805  age 74. Grave situated at the front of Chapel church next to the railings. 
Grace died on the 24 Feb 1825 age 72. Late of Birch End.

John's Will proved in 10th April 1806 at Lichfield. States his ancestors leased the farm and land for 999years being situated at Sittinglow in the parish of Chapel en le Frith. He banqueted the farm to his 3 named sons: Philip, William & Henry to be joint tenants, condition being that Henry had the option of buying the two brothers out. Son John was given �30, Son James �30,  Daughter Betty �30, , Son Ephraim �30,  daughters Mary �30,  Sarah �30, and son Samuel �30. 

Then the children are mention in a list  in order as: John, James, Betty, Ephraim, Mary, Sarah, Samuel, & Henry. Philip isn't mentioned this being in relation to �30 gifts only. John's brother in law Robert Cottrill of Dove Holes being solo executor. Witnesses : John Taylor (land surveyor) , Gilbert Bennett (solicitor) & Jsaac Matty -unclear on the spelling. Value of the estate is given as �300.

h.4.1 John Marchington.1773. Sittinglow. Married a Martha Hadfield  in Peak Forest in November 1798.  Later married his late cousins  wife on the farm next door being Halsteads.


 h.4.2  James Marchington.1774  Sittinglow. Married Charity Potts on the 7 Nov 1803. James & Charity move to Gorton Manchester.   Probable that James was named after James Clegg the Chinley Chapel minister.


h.4.3 Philip Marchington.1777 Wife: Ellen.  Ellen is stated as being not born in this county. Philip possibly remained on Sittinglow farming less land has his brother may have taken parcels of land to make a new farm operating from Warmbrook House in the Townend of Chapel.  Philip ended up leasing the farm to his farm labourer and retiring not far from his brother Henry at Townend.

John  Marchington.        son    age c15. (17 actual)    (This John is a Nephew working on the farm not his son).

There are labourers living on the farm being: Joseph Needham. age 30, his wife Mary & daughter Martha
age 6. Also a John Thornhill, age 34.

In the 1851 census  HO2151/229/24: Townend

In 1851 Philip and his wife are retired living at Townend in Chapel also Philips brother Henry  is also stated as retired living at Townend with his son John. Have they leased the Sittinglow farm out as its not featured with a Marchington occupant. Will have to re-look at the farm in the census to resolve this issue.

h.4.3.2 Philip Marchington. 1818. Sittinglow. Philip married an Elizabeth ?. They show up in the 1841 census as follows:

h.4.# Betty Marchington. 1775. Possibly married a Samuel Edwards at St Johns Church Liverpool on the 25th April 1802. They had a son called Samuel Marchington Edwards who's birth entry was  recorded in a family bible; 'born 14 March 1803 at half past 5 o'clock in the morning of the year of our Lord God'.

h.4.4 Henry Marchington.1780. Sittinglow. Henry married Jane Lloyd in 1816. They are farming at Townend near Warmbrook barn, near Lower Eaves farm.


h.4.4. William Marchington.1783. Sittinglow.  Married a Hannah. William died on the 24 Dec 1830 age 47 Hannah died on the 24 May 1860 age 80. Both buried in Chapel church  at the front next to the railings. They had a daughter called Ann born c1820


h.4.5 Ephraim Marchington.1785, possibly move to Manchester/ Lancashire.

h.4.6 Samuel Marchington. 1791. Sittinglow. Married an Elizabeth Hallworth in the Stockport area on the 25 March 1816. IGI 6934203 being a Cordwainer by trade. They travelled the short distance to Haughton Green in the Denton area  having the following children.. Samuel is featured in a Trade Directory for Denton, Droylesden & Gorton of 1832 as a Shoe Maker of Haughton Green, Denton.
