Marchington. 11 Sept 1791. Sittinglow. Married an Elizabeth Hallworth in
the Stockport area on the 25 March 1816. IGI 6934203 being a Cordwainer by
trade. They traveled the short distance to Haughton Green now in the Denton
area of greater Manchester having the following children. Samuel is featured in a Trade
Directory for Denton, Droylsden & Gorton of 1832 as a Shoemaker of
Haughton Green, Denton. Haughton Green and the wider area in which it sits being
Denton was a very large Hat manufacturing center and was world renewed for it.
Haughton Green was a small village which is currently a large housing
estate but at the time it was a small cottage industry of Hatters and a
like. Samuel was living only a short distance to his brother James, who was farming in the Abbey Hey part of Gorton which it is now part of Debdale Park, Denton. There is no trace of the family in the 1841 census for any of them as such the family must have been completely missed off the census - unless I or you come across them. h.4.6.# Elizabeth Marchington. 1816.
