It would seem they moved to Newport, Rodes Island,
In a trade Directory for Newport 1856-7 there is mentioned a Philip Marchington, proprietor of a Confectionery Shop at 307 Thames house.
Now with the evidence so far, I assume that Philip & Elizabeth
emigrated to North America from the High Peak. The name Philip is a very
popular family name and the name Ephraim is also indicative of the family
naming of children through the Henry Marchington.1664 line through the
Sittinglow branch.
Ephraim is interesting as this name was first mentioned as a child of Henry
Marchington.1664. His son Henry named a child Ephraim and so-on through this
line which carried on through to the Manchester section of the family where
it stayed. The name was not used in any of the other High Peak lines after
1820. I assume that Ephriam died before the 1850 census was taken.

There was a Peter Marchington born in New York who returned to Manchester, England to show up in
the 1851 census. This Peter was the son of a John & Ann
Marchington.
Peter was born around 1843 so this family must have emigrated
first before 1843 and returned around 1847 before the birth of the daughter
Sarah Ann.
