The Parish book states: 1744/45 John Marchington , Church Warden brought Register with others for Parish.
The
Parish records  states: Martha, wife of John Marchington of Hauststeads in the parish of
Chapel-en-le-Frith buried as  the 13th of  April 1765.

Later on an entry in the Parish book records the following:  John Marchington farmer  from Horsestead in the Parish, buried on the 12 June 1785.
John made his will while he was seriously ill and as such it is very basic.  Its interesting to note that Samuel was the main benefactor inheriting all the farm, stock and chattel. Joseph was given 0ne shilling along with his sister Ann. Possibly they previously had an advance. Martha and Mary were given fifty pounds each.  Thomas is not mentioned in his fathers will and as such may be the child mentioned as dying with small pox .   Copy of John's Will.   It seems Joseph was farming at Goyts Moss farm  near the present-day Cat & Fiddle pub being 'Derbyshire Bridge area', possibly Joseph had received an advance from his father and set up farming there. The old farm house which occupied the present site on the Rangers building was know as Marchington farm.

a.1.1.1.3.1.1 Samuel Marchington.1738., died on the 23 Jul 1787. Two years after the death of his father.
In Samuels Will he states he is sick in body and weak 'obviously dieing from a fever', and he leaves no wife or heir and as such he bequeaths to his sisters Ann Walker, wife of Robert Walker a yearly sum of seven pounds for her natural life. Martha  (his sister) wife of Edward Vernon the sum of twenty pounds. Mary Marchington his youngest sister a yearly sum of ten pounds for her natural life until she marries.  Samuels brother Joseph was given the remaining estate which comprised the whole farm being Hallsteads. The farm was Lease Hold. But as yet I do not know who owned the lease at this time but in the rate book of 1806 states the owner as Sir Fr HUTCHINSON.

a.1.1.1.3.1#. Mary Marchington.1746., married Joseph Vernon.  on the 9 February 1792. Joseph Vernon is stated as an executor of Mary's  nephews will being Joseph.1742, son of brother John.1697.

Joseph remarried to an Elizabeth Swindells who was also a  widow with a young child called Jenny Swindells, as mentioned in Joseph.1771 Last Will & Testament. Joseph & Elizabeth had the following children:
Samuel Marchington. Born. 9 Nov 1800.   Fairfield.
Mary Marchington who died at 13 weeks.1805
Mary  Marchington. who died on the 7th Feb 1808.
Martha Marchington. Is mentioned in Josephs Will. but no baptism is mention in Fairfield parish register.

Goyts Moss in the PR, Goyts Moss is situated along the Macclesfield road near the Cat & Fiddle pub. Being Derbyshire Bridge. Which is stated as being in the Taxal parish therefore it must have been on the Cheshire side of the boarder of the river (Steam) Goyt. The farm was pulled down some years ago and  the site is now occupied by the Peak District Rangers Visitors Center.
Joseph's son being Samuel.1800., inherited Goyts Moss farm when he reached the age of twenty one, and his half brother John.1763, inherited Halsteads farm probably given to him by his father after the death of Samuel his brother who left the Halsteads estate to him in his will. Joseph.1742 later married.  Joseph could have supplied stone to the building of  Hardwick Hall which is 500 yards from Goyts Moss Farm.

Joseph  died in Oct 1809 as stated in his will which was  proved on the 5th July 1810. The main beneficiary's  being his son  Samuel & daughter Martha. Also mentioned his step daughter Jenny Swindels.  After the death of Josephs brother Samual, to which Joseph was the main benefactor, Joseph must have handed Halsteads farm over to his son John. His other son/s Humphrey and possibly Joseph were possibly given an advance before Joseph remarried to Elizabeth Swindells.

Joseph  died on the 17th Oct 1809 age 67.,  he is buried along with his first wife Amy.

Elizabeth Marchington died on the 19 May 1844., she is buried at St Peters being plot number 78.
