cm.1.2.3 Adam Marchington.1813 Born 8th Jan., at Chapel Milton, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire, England.

Adam probably  traveled to the US around 1837. A member of the present day family state that Adam had to leave England as he was accused of stealing a horse. Having search the County Court Sessions I haven't come across any Marchington being involved in any theft around this time. However stealing a horse was a felony and as such was a serious crime due to the fact that a horse was a working tool and it had the potential to render someone without a means of sustaining a living. The usual punishment for such a crime at this time would have been Transportation for a set number of year but probably for life to Australia. But once again there are no records of such an incident taking place. At this time there were a few more Marchington family members who were emigrating to the States as such word could have got around of the opportunities to be had in making such a move.

Adam  took US Citizenship as detailed:

cm.1.2.2 Thomas Marchington.1810 son of Geo' Marchington  of Chapel Milton and being Adams brother, possibly emigrated to America, at what time is unknown, he shows up in the 1880 census for Noble Co, Ohio age 70, & single, visiting his brother Adam.

There was also a Thomas who married in 1865 in Chesterfield district, Derbyshire. Its possible that George  & Ann Marchington moved to this area and as such Thomas followed them and stayed on & married there. However he visited his brother in  1880 in Noble County Ohio according to the 1880 census, he is stated as being single in this census.
