*Thomas
& Mary Marchington of Tideswell had a son called Thomas 21st April
1799.
Thomas
Marchington.1799. Married
Ann Walker on the 16 July 1826 at Manchester Cathedral. Thomas was a
Hatter by trade. People tended to get married at Manchester cathedral as
it was easier to do, less questions and no formality was required.
Children:
John.1826,
Sarah.1828,
William.1830,
Thomas. Dec1831. c1832, possibly died before 1841
Martha.1833,
Ann.1840.
These names match the regular naming of most Marchington's.
Thomas was either a
child of a John Marchington who was living in the St Johns parish of
Manchester around 1800, of which I cant find any birth of a Thomas in St
Johns church records or the son of Thomas & Mary of
Tideswell. I suspect its Thomas & Marys child.
Thomas died on the
30 Apr 1840 age 40 years old, and is buried at St James Church, Gorton,
plot; 1274. Also a Thomas age 3months & Ann a daughter age 1year
& 7 months. (taken from the grave book). There are two other
Marchington graves here. If Thomas had lived to the 1841 census we
would have at least know which county he was from.
Lancashire records
