Oathorm Marchanton baptised May 1622. Daughter of John & Margaret.

Early mention of a Will dated 20th Nov 1630.  Ref:  C.F. page 338. Derby Charities 1819-37  page 479, original page 241.   There is no copy of the Will in the DRO or the PRO and as such no copy can be found unless a copy is still held by a Charity Institute, - checked they do not hold a copy.  Reference to it in letters from the trusties of the charity held in Matlock records office Document number: D2453/30/4.  John set up to school 5 poor children of the parish by the use of a house ground rent given to the Church. Which led to much litigation in the early  1800 when the property was sold without the Ground Rent being attributed to the sale, and the payments lapsing for a short time.

John died in 1630

John made a Will to which reference is made above but there is no copy in existence to which I've come across as yet.

Philip was Church warden in 1689. PR. So he must have lived into his 80's like his son Henry did.

Hearth Tax payment entry: Phillip Marchington.      1shilling.      year 1670.     Bowdon Chapell.
The Hearth tax was assessed on the basis of the size & number of hearths or stoves a dwellings had. The tax was two shillings per annum for each hearth or stove. Being bases on a pitched roof, stone or brick chimney which was somewhat of a luxury at the time.

Phillip snr. died and was buried on the 23 Oct 1710. PR.
Mary died and was buried on the 6 Feb 1706   PR.
