'New Mills Wesleyanish' book wrote by Seth Eavns in 1912. In this book it States that a Philip & Henry Marchington held pews in the chapel around the date of 1789.

Philip being in the 3rd pew held two seats. In this row all the other occupants held 2 pews.

 Henry's being in the 8th pew held just one seat. All the others in this pew row also only held one pew seat.

From this we must assume that Philip is married and the second pew is for his wife. Henry is not married or widowed.
