Marchanton 

The MARCHANTON's are without doubt a junior branch of the Marchington's from Chapel en le Frith, who moved to the Manchester area in and around the 1700's. Its possible that this branch comes from a John Marchunton who married at Mottram Church in 1630 or a John Marchenton who married at Prestbury in 1589.

John Marchanton died in 1828 aged 60. He  was a Baker at Gravel Lane Salford Buried
at St Johns Church Manchester.  Ann  died in 1840 aged 73 at Chorlton u Medlock.

St Johns church has since been demolished and as such the grave yard no-longer exists except for a memorial garden and a few clues to it existence.

William Marchanton.1811. Married Martha Radcliff on the 5 Apr 1837. Martha was the daughter of William and Mary Ratcliffe of the Cow and Calf pub at Cheetham Place Red Bank, Manchester.

Thomas Marchanton.1849. Chorlton-Medlock.  Thomas married Annie Elizabeth Richards on 25 Dec1877 at St Mary's West Derby, Liverpool. She was the daughter of John & Jane Richards farmers of Llandinum, near Kerry Montgomeryshire.

Ada Marchanton.1884. Married a ?  Smith at Ormskirk in 1917  Children: Kenneth Marchanton Smith.

Arthur Lionel Marchanton.1895. Married  Florence Wright Ashworth in Southport in 1918. Children: Barbara Yvonne.1921.

Arthur died 1975.  Florence lived until she was 101.dying on the 25 Sept 1993 at Great Yarmouth.
